Extended global teams can swell to 300+ members, representing all HR functions during the most active phases of an acquisition. Rick is an HR M&A trailblazer who developed both the SAP M&A playbook and contributed to the CGI HR M&A playbook with a structured approach to HR’s participation in M&A, and pragmatic approaches to cultural integration. Other direct contributions to successful integrations include the development and implementation of the operational integration process, which allows for faster alignment of acquisition objectives.

Our grassroots approach enables us to quickly break down the complexity of M&A into ordered fundamentals. We have an infectious drive to understand how to maximize the human capital value from an acquisition build collaboration and cooperation.

Work Experience 

Rick Richter is an HR Executive with over 30 years of experience in several industries including software, retail, banking, insurance, and industrial chemicals. Rick has been successful in roles ranging from Interim CHRO, eBusiness strategy, Executive Recruiting to Strategic Consulting.

This varied experience gives him a unique perspective on how great HR supports great companies.

Work Experience Highlights

  • SAP SE: Strategic global HR leader for SAP’s M&A activity with deals ranging from $6 million to $8 billion, containing 3,000 - 5,000 employees, with about 4 to 5 closes per year. 

  • CGI: Expert Advisor/Coach on active Global M&A and outsourcing transactions.

  • Société Internationale de Télécommunications Aéronautiques (SITA): HR Leader in defining and delivering programs for employees while ensuring global consistency.

Career

Rick held the roles of Global HR M&A leader at SAP, HR M&A expert at CGI, and has worked as an independent executive HR M&A consultant through AR CONSULTING for clients at home and abroad. In these roles he and his core global team led HR in the integration of over 80+ acquisitions, in 50+ countries representing more than $40 billion of investment. He has worked closely with Mercer, PWC, WTW, EY, Deutsche Bank, Jones Day and many other partners to drive alignment between external teams and internal clients. 

He introduces strategic change management, talent assessment, knowledge transfer and cultural integration activities into the acquisition process. He is an expert in ambiguous business scenarios with tight budget and time constraints.

Career Highlights

  • Built the Global HR M&A practice at SAP, with 27,000+ employees added through acquisition.

  • Concurrently undertakes Project Director responsibilities for large integrations – up to 350 team members; 28+ countries.


Education 

Rick has a Bachelor's degree from Brock University, continues studies at Kellogg, recently completed training leading to certification as a professional executive coach and is fluent in four languages — English, French, German, and Portuguese.

He currently lives in Montréal with his wife Ana, has two sons actively developing their careers and a boisterous Beagle who loves to participate in MS Teams calls.
